The Emerging Trend of the Flipped Classroom : A Content Analysis of Published Articles between 2010 and 2015

The flipped classroom is a learning model where direct instruction is replaced by videos and in the actual classrooms, students are encouraged to focus on important learning activities with their teachers instead. The purpose is to indicate the flipped classroom study trends over the past five years. A total of 65 articles were analyzed as part of this study and the reporting of the study was grouped according to the following criteria: year of publication, research country, sample group, research method, subject area, research model and data collection tool. As a result, it was found that the number of publications on flipped classrooms has increased year over year. The flipped classroom approach has been applied to 48 different subject areas and the qualitative research method was mostly used. It aims to guide all researchers who are working with flipped classrooms.
